Police Sub-Inspector Stabbed While Chasing Suspect in Chattogram

In an attempt to apprehend a suspect, a police Sub-Inspector (SI) was injured in a stabbing incident in Chattogram city. The injured officer, Abu Saeed alias Rana, serves at the Bandar Police Station. The incident occurred around 1:00 AM on Monday night in the Ishan Mistri’s Ghat area under the Bandar Police Station.

The injured police officer is currently receiving treatment at Chattogram Medical College Hospital. Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Mohammad Alauddin from the hospital police outpost confirmed the incident to Prothom Alo. Bandar Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Aftab Uddin also confirmed the incident to Prothom Alo. He stated that a police team, including SI Abu Saeed and three to four other officers, had gone to apprehend a notorious snatcher named Md. Shakil, alias Chaku Shakil. During the operation, Shakil attacked SI Abu Saeed, stabbing him in the neck and head before fleeing the scene. Several of Shakil’s accomplices were also present at the location.
