Case Filed Against 43 Chhatra League Activists for Flash Protest in Noakhali

Noakhali, August 1, 2025: A case has been filed against 43 leaders and activists of the banned Bangladesh Chhatra League for organizing a flash protest rally in Chowmuhani town, Begumganj Upazila, Noakhali. The case was lodged by the police at Begumganj Police Station on Thursday night, following the rally held on Thursday afternoon. Five individuals arrested during a police operation after the rally have been named in the case.

The arrested individuals are Nur Nabi alias Raju (31) and Abdul Ahad (18) from Karimpur in Ward No. 4 of Chowmuhani Municipality, Md. Shraban (19) from Babunagar village in Sharifpur Union, Zahidul Hasan (19) from Ganipur village in Ward No. 5 of Chowmuhani Municipality, and Md. Arman (19) from Char Kaunia village in No. 19 Purba Charmatua Union of Sadar Upazila.

Police reported recovering two festoons and three sticks from the arrested individuals. The case has been filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act, and police operations are ongoing to apprehend the remaining absconding accused. Begumganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Liton Dewan confirmed the case. On Thursday afternoon, around 3:45 PM, Chhatra League activists held a flash protest rally in Chowmuhani town, starting from the Chowmuhani Railway Station area. According to videos circulated on Facebook and accounts from local residents, the rally proceeded along the road west of the railway line, passed through the rail gate, and entered the busy Feni-Chowmuhani highway. The protesters carried banners with slogans reading, “Remove Yunus, Save the Country, Sheikh Hasina Will Come, Bangladesh Will Smile.” Approximately 25 to 30 teenagers and young adults participated in the rally, which covered about 200 yards of the highway before concluding at the head of Hasan Road in the town.
