Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) A M M Nasir Uddin is set to embark on a 14-day visit to Canada to observe voter registration activities for expatriates. He will depart on August 26 and return on September 8.According to an office order signed by Election Commission (EC) Deputy Secretary Md. Shah Alam, the CEC will be accompanied by Lalmonirhat District Election Officer Md. Lutfull Kabir. During the visit, the CEC will inaugurate voter registration activities and distribute national identity cards. Meanwhile, EC Secretary Akhtar Ahmed left for Japan on Sunday, August 17, to inspect voter registration activities there. He is scheduled to return on August 23. Currently, the Election Commission is conducting voter registration through embassies in 16 stations across nine countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom, Italy, Kuwait, Qatar, Malaysia, Australia, and Canada. Approximately 50,000 applications have been received from these countries.
