In Sylhet’s Golapganj, a Jubo Dal activist named Roni Hossain (32) was stabbed to death on Saturday (August 9, 2025) midnight in the Kadamtala area of the pourashava. Roni, son of the late Azir Uddin from Amura village, was an active member of the local Jubo Dal.
Local sources report that hours before the incident, Roni posted on his Facebook account, accusing Sheikh Raju, the former organizing secretary of Golapganj Poura Chhatra Dal, of issues related to a woman. It is suspected that this dispute may have led to the killing.
Golapganj Model Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Moniruzzaman Molla stated that operations are underway to arrest those involved in the murder. The victim’s body is currently at the morgue of Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital. However, the exact motive for the killing has not yet been confirmed.
