The Malaysian government has agreed to recruit a certain number of Bangladeshi workers who were unable to enter the country by May 31, 2024, for employment opportunities.
According to a revised notice issued by the Bangladesh High Commission in Kuala Lumpur on Friday, this recruitment process will be facilitated through the government-run Bangladesh Overseas Employment and Services Limited (BOESL). The notice elaborates on the recruitment process and specifies the sectors in which these workers will be employed.
The High Commission stated that the workers will be recruited for Malaysia’s construction and tourism sectors. The recruitment process will adhere to specific regulations to ensure transparency and accuracy.
Earlier, the High Commission issued a warning about fraudulent groups operating under the pretext of sending workers to Malaysia’s Sabah state. It clarified that no Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) or bilateral agreement exists between Bangladesh and Malaysia for worker recruitment in this region.
The High Commission noted that these fraudulent groups have been collecting passports and money from people by falsely promising jobs. Such recruitment activities are illegal and involve deceit.
The notice emphasized, “Bangladeshi workers should only participate in the recruitment process through government-approved channels, such as BOESL. Everyone is urged to remain cautious.”
