A Dhaka court has granted a 4-day remand for Jane Alam Apu, the expelled joint convener of the Bangladesh Democratic Students’ Council (BAGCHAS), in connection with an extortion case involving the residence of former Awami League MP Shammi Ahmed in Gulshan.
On Saturday (August 2), around 3:00 PM, Apu was produced before the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court in a white private car. The investigating officer of the case, Inspector Mokhlesur Rahman of Gulshan Police Station, sought a 10-day remand for Apu. The defense lawyer requested bail, while the prosecution strongly pressed for remand. After the hearing, the court granted a 4-day remand for the accused.
