No Leniency for Awami League’s Wrongdoings: Home Affairs Adviser

Dhaka, August 2, 2025: Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, the Home Affairs Adviser, stated that the banned Awami League will face strict action if they attempt any wrongdoing. He made these remarks while briefing journalists after inspecting Mohammadpur Police Station in the capital on Saturday morning.

Addressing concerns about secret meetings and activities by the Awami League, the adviser emphasized, “Everyone will be brought under the law. Even if any member of the forces is involved, they will not be spared.” He added that actions would be taken based on investigations.

Regarding speculations surrounding August 5, the adviser assured that there is no cause for concern in the country. He noted that law enforcement agencies are prepared and vigilant. “With the cooperation of journalists and all relevant stakeholders, there is no reason to worry,” he said. The Home Affairs Adviser also praised the media for their role in disseminating the truth, which he believes is contributing to the country’s progress. “I have always said that because our journalists are reporting the truth, the tone of foreign media has gradually softened. They are no longer as vocal as they used to be,” he remarked.
