BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has stated that fragmented, patchwork efforts cannot bring about meaningful change. He made these remarks on Saturday (August 23) during a discussion meeting organized at the National Press Club.
Mirza Fakhrul highlighted that teachers in schools and colleges are appointed through bribery. “In a system where inequality and irregularities persist for so long, how can change happen overnight?” he questioned.
He emphasized that change requires clear goals and strategic planning. Fakhrul further alleged that while society aspires for progress and reducing inequality, deliberate attempts are being made to push it in the opposite direction. He accused certain groups of cunningly spreading extremism.
Stressing the importance of democracy, Mirza Fakhrul said that debates and discussions are natural in a democratic system. He added that if united efforts rise above corruption, change is indeed possible in Bangladesh, citing numerous examples of such transformations.
