Dhaka, August 5, 2025 – Chief Adviser Prof Mohammad Yunus announced that the student-people uprising of 2024 will be granted constitutional recognition to honor the sacrifices of the injured and fallen martyrs. The statement was made during the unveiling of the 28-point July Declaration, a significant political document for Bangladesh, on Tuesday afternoon.
Prof Yunus stated, “The student-people uprising of 2024 will be given appropriate state and constitutional recognition. The declaration will be included in the schedule of the amended constitution of the government to be elected in the next general election.” The announcement underscores the interim government's commitment to enshrining the historic uprising in the nation’s legal framework, ensuring its legacy endures.
