Youth Killed in Mob Beating After Mobile Phone Snatching in Tongi

 

In Tongi, Gazipur, a young man was killed in a mob beating on Monday morning around 8:00 AM in the Millgate area. The identity of the deceased, estimated to be around 22 years old, remains unknown. He was wearing black pants and a blue shirt.

According to locals and police, the youth had snatched a mobile phone from a passenger bus and was attempting to flee. The crowd chased and apprehended him, subsequently beating him severely.

The critically injured youth was first taken to Tongi Government Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Upon receiving the news, police recovered the body and sent it to the morgue of Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College for an autopsy.

Deputy Commissioner of Gazipur Metropolitan Police (South), Mohammad Mahiuddin Ahmed, stated that efforts are underway to identify the deceased. Legal proceedings regarding the incident are in progress.
