Bongobir Kader Siddiqui has clarified that he is not working for the rehabilitation of the Awami League. He stated, “About 26 years ago, I left the Awami League and founded the Krishak Sramik Janata League. I have no political connection with Sheikh Hasina or the Awami League. However, I love and respect Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the people of Bangladesh.”
Siddiqui made these remarks during a press conference held at his residence in Tangail city on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at noon.
He further said, “If breaking my house, like Dhanmondi 32, brings peace to the country, I support it. I am not blaming any party’s leaders or activists for this incident. However, a case will be filed regarding this matter.”
Siddiqui also announced that he would attend a pre-scheduled freedom fighters’ gathering in Basail upazila later that afternoon.
The press conference was attended by his younger brother, Shamim Al Monsur Azad Siddiqui, along with other freedom fighters.
Earlier, around 1:00 AM on Sunday, miscreants vandalized the windows and a vehicle at Kader Siddiqui’s residence.
Meanwhile, the local administration has imposed Section 144 in Basail due to tensions surrounding separate gatherings organized under the banners of the Kaderiya Bahini and a student assembly at the same location. The order was issued by Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Mosha. Aklima Begum on Saturday night and will remain in effect from 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM on Sunday.
Tangail Thana’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Tanvir Ahmed stated that an investigation into the vandalism at Kader Siddiqui’s residence has begun, and those involved will be identified and brought to justice soon.
