Man Arrested in India for Sending Hoax Message Claiming ‘Pakistani Terrorists Entered Mumbai’

A 50-year-old man has been arrested in India for allegedly sending a hoax message to the Mumbai Police, claiming that 14 Pakistani terrorists had entered the city with bombs in 34 vehicles. According to a report by NDTV, the message further claimed that the terrorists intended to kill 1 crore people during the Ganesh Utsav festival.

The threatening message was sent to the Mumbai Traffic Police’s WhatsApp helpline on Thursday, causing alarm as security measures were already heightened for the Ganesh Chaturthi festival, which concluded on Saturday.

Citing sources, NDTV reported that the accused, identified as Ashwinikumar Sureshkumar Supra, is a resident of Patna. After sending the message, he switched off his mobile phone. He was arrested from Sector 79 in Noida and handed over to the Mumbai Police. NDTV stated that Ashwinikumar is an astrologer and businessman currently undergoing a divorce. Another individual linked to the incident was arrested from Sorakha village. The Mumbai Police noted that the hoax message mentioned an organization called ‘Lashkar-e-Jihadi.’ The traffic police have received similar bomb threat messages in the past. Authorities have stated there is no cause for panic, with heightened security measures in place at key locations and ongoing search operations. Mumbai residents have been urged not to believe rumors.
