Dhaka, September 4, 2025 — Stamford University Bangladesh has launched the nation’s first free Russian language certificate courses, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at promoting linguistic and cultural exchange. Supported by the Russian Ministry of Education, St. Petersburg State University, and the My History Fund, the program now includes an expanded outreach plan to engage rural communities across Bangladesh, ensuring broader access to this unique opportunity.
The Open Education Center, newly established at Stamford University, offers free Russian language courses to all interested learners, regardless of background. The program was officially inaugurated on September 3, 2025, in a ceremony attended by St. Petersburg State University instructor Yulia Uchakina, Stamford University’s Pro Vice-Chancellor Professor Mohammad Yunus Mia, and University Treasurer Professor Mohammad Jeaul Hasan. Other attendees included Mohammad Abdul Matin, Chair of the English Department, Registrar Associate Professor Dr. Mrityunjoy Acharya, Proctor Mohammad Aftab Uddin, and several faculty deans and administrators.
University officials emphasized that the initiative, with its new rural outreach component, will provide Bangladeshi students, particularly those in underserved areas, with enhanced opportunities to pursue higher education in Russia, fostering stronger academic and cultural ties between the two countries.
