Dhaka, May 3, 2025: The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has issued a warning of potential thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds in Dhaka and six other districts within the next few hours. Rainfall is also likely in these areas.
According to a weather advisory signed by meteorologist Kh. Hafizur Rahman on Saturday (May 3) afternoon, the districts of Dhaka, Faridpur, Barishal, Patuakhali, Cumilla, Noakhali, and Chattogram are at risk of experiencing thunderstorms between 12:45 PM and the next 2-4 hours.
The advisory further states that gusty winds with speeds of 45-60 km/h or more may sweep through these regions, potentially accompanied by rain.
Safety Precautions:
Authorities advise residents to stay indoors during thunderstorms and keep windows and doors closed. Avoid travel if possible and seek safe shelter. Do not take refuge under trees, lie on concrete floors, or lean against concrete walls. Unplug electrical and electronic devices, stay away from water bodies, and avoid contact with conductive objects. During hailstorms, remain indoors for safety.
