99 Cocktails, 40 Petrol Bombs Seized from Chapainawabganj Border

Chapainawabganj, April 24, 2025: The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) recovered 99 cocktail bombs and 40 petrol bombs from the Shibganj border area of Chapainawabganj. The seizure took place around 2:00 AM on Thursday (April 24) in the Chakpara border area of Shibganj Upazila.
In a press briefing held at 8:00 PM on Thursday, Lieutenant Colonel Golam Kibria, the commanding officer of Mahananda Battalion (59 BGB), confirmed the operation. He stated that, acting on a tip-off, the BGB learned that illegal explosives were likely being transported from Chapainawabganj to Rajshahi via the Chakpara Border Outpost (BOP) area. Following this, the BGB intensified patrols and conducted a raid near the Koylabari Truck Terminal in Shahabazpur Union, approximately one kilometer inside Bangladesh from Border Main Pillar 184.
During the operation, two individuals fled upon spotting the BGB patrol, abandoning two plastic crates. Upon inspection, the crates contained 99 cocktail bombs wrapped in red tape and 40 petrol bombs made from glass bottles.
Lieutenant Colonel Kibria added that the explosives were seized in an unclaimed state, and the identities of those responsible could not be immediately determined. No arrests were made during the operation. The seized explosives will be handed over to the Shibganj Police Station for further action
