Bangladesh Approves LNG Cargo Import from Singapore for $59.8 Billion

Dhaka: To meet the country's growing energy demands, the government has approved the import of a single LNG cargo from Singapore's Vitol Asia Pte Ltd at a cost of approximately Tk 598 crore ($59.8 billion).

During a meeting of the Government Procurement Advisory Council on April 22, the proposal was formally approved. Petrobangla invited bids from 23 registered companies, five of which submitted proposals. Among them, four were deemed technically and financially responsive, with Vitol Asia securing the contract.

Additionally, the meeting also approved an increase in expenses for the ‘Installation of Single Point Mooring with Double Pipeline’ project. The consultancy firm, ILF Consulting Engineers, UAE, will receive an additional Tk 1.03 crore ($858,762) to accommodate project variation.
