Dhaka: A tragic incident unfolded in the Islambagh area under Chawkbazar Police Station in Dhaka on Wednesday (April 23), as 13-year-old madrasa student Abdullah was found hanging in his room. He was a student of the Kitab department at Islambagh Boro Madrasa.
According to family members, Abdullah returned home from his madrasa in the afternoon and informed his mother that he wanted to count his Eid savings privately, asking her not to enter his room.
His mother initially protested but later agreed. After a prolonged period of silence, she called out to him but received no response. When she peered through the door gap, she was shocked to find Abdullah hanging from the ceiling fan with a scarf tied around his neck.
His family members immediately broke the door and rushed him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Abdullah's father, Abdur Rahman, stated that his son had completed his Hifz studies and was now focusing on Kitab education.
He usually spent nights at home but had stayed at the madrasa the previous night. The reason behind his actions remains unclear, leaving the family in deep shock.
Authorities, including Chawkbazar Police Station and Dhaka Medical College Hospital’s police camp, have started investigating the case. Inspector Md. Faruk of the hospital police camp confirmed that Abdullah's body has been placed in the emergency department morgue, and the local police have been informed for further inquiries
