Dhaka: Five individuals have been arrested by Uttara West Police Station in connection with a case filed over the vandalism of Dhaka University’s ‘Kshanika’ bus and injuries to students in Azampur, Uttara, Dhaka.
On Wednesday, April 30, Assistant Commissioner (AC) of Uttara Zone, Saddam Hossain, confirmed that the arrests were made during an overnight operation conducted on Tuesday, April 29.
AC Hossain stated that a case was lodged against 50-60 unidentified individuals for their involvement in the vandalism and assault on students. Following investigations, five suspects were identified and arrested for their direct role in the incident. The arrested individuals have been presented before the court.
The attack occurred around 1:15 PM on Tuesday when the ‘Kshanika’ bus, operating on the Tongi-Gazipur route, was targeted. The bus driver and several students sustained injuries and were treated at Crescent Hospital.
On Tuesday night, Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan and Proctor Saifuddin Ahmed visited Uttara West Police Station regarding the incident.
