Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus departed Qatar on Friday morning, April 25, 2025, to attend events in the Vatican. His press wing confirmed the departure.
Professor Yunus is expected to arrive in Rome, Italy, at 2:15 PM local time, where he will be welcomed by the Bangladeshi ambassadors to Italy and Vatican City. An hour later, at 3:15 PM, he will visit St. Peter’s Square to pay respects to Pope Francis. Cardinal Mauro Gambetti, Vicar General of Vatican City, will formally greet the Chief Adviser and the Bangladeshi delegation at the square.
On Saturday, April 26, Professor Yunus will attend Pope Francis’ funeral at St. Peter’s Square around 9:30 AM. Qatar’s Chief of Protocol, Ibrahim bin Yusuf Abdullah Fakhro, bid farewell to the Chief Adviser at Hamad International Airport in Doha.
The Chief Adviser is scheduled to depart Rome’s Leonardo da Vinci Fiumicino Airport on Sunday, April 27, at approximately 8:00 AM (12:00 PM Bangladesh time) and is expected to return to Bangladesh early Monday, April 28.
