Dhaka: In a sudden shift, gold prices in Bangladesh surged again within a day, setting a new record. The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) announced on Tuesday that the price of 22-carat gold per bhori has increased by 5,342 BDT, reaching 177,888 BDT, the highest in the country’s history.

A statement signed by the Chairman of BAJUS Pricing and Monitoring Committee, Masudur Rahman, mentioned that the new prices will come into effect on Wednesday, April 23.

Additionally, the updated rates are: 21-carat gold: 169,805 BDT per bhori. 18-carat gold: 145,543 BDT per bhori.  Traditional method gold:120,512 BDT per bhori

Alongside gold, silver prices have also seen a hike. The cost of 22-carat silver per bhori has been set at 2,846 BDT.

Experts believe the price surge is linked to global gold market fluctuations and rising domestic demand.
