International Desk: India has expressed concerns over a new dam constructed by Bangladesh along the Muhuri River near the India-Bangladesh border. In response, the Tripura state government dispatched a high-level delegation to the border town of Belonia.
The delegation, led by Tripura's Public Works Department Secretary Kiran Gitte, visited the border areas and held discussions with local residents and representatives.
Kiran Gitte stated that the Indian government is also undertaking protective measures, including the construction of embankments, to safeguard Belonia and nearby villages in South Tripura. He assured that repair and construction work would be completed by June this year.
According to NDTV, the new dam built by Bangladesh could potentially cause waterlogging or flooding in Indian villages during the monsoon season.
