A devastating accident in Munshiganj’s Srinagar Upazila led to the roof of the passenger bus ‘Barishal Express’ being completely torn off. On April 17, the bus was traveling along the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway when it crashed into a private car at high speed, which then resulted in a collision with a covered van.
Following the accident, the driver, in a state of panic, continued driving the vehicle for approximately 10 kilometers before hitting the expressway railing, causing the roof to detach and fall onto the road. Eight passengers onboard were injured in the incident.
In response, the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) decided to temporarily suspend the bus’s registration. The regulatory body has summoned the vehicle’s owner to the Dhaka Metro-2 Circle office with all necessary documents for a hearing, warning that further legal actions, including permanent cancellation of the registration, may follow.
