Commissioner (DC) of Shariatpur, has been designated as an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) after an intimate video involving him and a woman went viral. The Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification on Saturday (June 21, 2025), confirming the decision regarding the 27th BCS administration cadre officer.
Pinky Saha, Additional District Magistrate and Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development and Human Resource Management) of Shariatpur, confirmed the development.
The controversy erupted when, starting Friday morning (June 20), an objectionable video and four photos featuring Mohammad Ashraf Uddin and a woman began circulating on Telegram and social media platforms like Facebook. The incident sparked widespread discussion across Shariatpur and beyond.
The woman in the video is a resident of Sabalia in Tangail Sadar Upazila. She is related to Mohammad Ashraf Uddin through familial ties, as she is the sister-in-law of his wife’s elder sister. Their close relationship reportedly developed through these family connections.
Mohammad Ashraf Uddin assumed the role of Shariatpur’s Deputy Commissioner on November 3, 2024. Prior to this, he served as the Director of the Disability Development and Neuro-Development Trust.
The Ministry of Public Administration has taken swift action in response to the incident, and further steps for investigation are reportedly underway.
