Zahidul Islam Parvez, a 23-year-old student of Textile Engineering at Prime Asia University, was brutally stabbed to death in front of the university campus in Banani, Dhaka, on Saturday afternoon.
According to university officials, Parvez was having snacks with his friends when two female students misunderstood their laughter as being directed at them. This led to an altercation.
Although university authorities intervened to resolve the matter, a group of young men later attacked Parvez with a knife, fatally wounding him in the heart. He succumbed to his injuries on the spot.
The demand for swift justice has been raised, as video footage and numerous eyewitnesses are available, yet the perpetrators remain at large.
