United States has increased tariffs on Chinese imports to a staggering 245%

The Trump administration has escalated its trade war with China to unprecedented levels. Following Beijing's retaliatory tariffs, the United States has increased tariffs on Chinese imports to a staggering 245%. This move has heightened tensions in the ongoing trade conflict between the two nations.

Earlier this month, U.S. President Donald Trump initially imposed a 34% tariff on Chinese goods, which was met with retaliatory tariffs from China. In response, Trump announced subsequent increases, raising tariffs to 84%, 104%, and then 125%. On Thursday, April 10, Trump further raised the tariffs to 145%.

On Friday, April 11, China countered by imposing a 125% tariff on U.S. goods.

In a retaliatory move, the Trump administration then hiked tariffs by another 100%, bringing the total tariffs on Chinese goods to 245%. On Tuesday, April 15, the White House issued a statement confirming this move, framing it as part of Trump’s “America First Trade Policy.”
