Dhaka, May 15, 2025 : The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has summoned Moyazzem Hossain, former Assistant Private Secretary (APS) to Local Government and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan, Tuhin Farabi and Dr. Mahmudul Hasan, former Personal Officers (POs) to Health Adviser Nurjahan Begum, and ABM Gazi Salauddin Ahmed Tanvir, former Joint Member Secretary of the National Citizen Party (NCP), for questioning.
They face allegations of corruption, including taking commissions on procurements and engaging in transfer-related irregularities.
The ACC investigation officer issued notices for them to appear on May 20, 21, and 22. ACC Director General Aktar Hossain confirmed the matter on Thursday (May 15). He stated that Tuhin Farabi and Mahmudul Hasan have been called for questioning on May 20, Gazi Salauddin Ahmed Tanvir on May 21, and Moyazzem Hossain on May 22.
Sources indicate that on April 27, the Youth Rights Council submitted a memorandum to the ACC, demanding an investigation into corruption allegations against the APS and POs of the advisers. Additionally, two High Court lawyers, Advocate Nadim Mahmud and Advocate Muhammad Shafiqul Islam, filed similar complaints with the ACC.
Earlier, on April 22, Moyazzem Hossain resigned from his post. On April 25, Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan requested the ACC to investigate the allegations against him. Separately, Tuhin Farabi, a PO to the Health Adviser, was relieved of his duties following corruption allegations. Meanwhile, on April 21, Gazi Salauddin Tanvir was temporarily suspended from the NCP.
The ACC’s actions are seen as a strong signal of its commitment to tackling corruption, according to stakeholders.
