Bangladesh Among Top Three in Schengen Visa Rejections

 

International Desk, May 20, 2025 : Bangladesh ranks among the top three countries with the highest Schengen visa rejection rates in 2024, according to Schengen News. The West African nation of Comoros faced the highest rejection rate, followed by Bangladesh and Pakistan.  

Data from Schengen Visa Info reveals that in 2024, Comoros had 1,754 visa applications rejected out of 2,853, accounting for 62.8% of total applications. Bangladesh saw 20,957 rejections out of 39,345 applications (54.90%), while Pakistan had 35,139 rejections out of 78,362 applications (47.5%).
Compared to 2023, Bangladesh’s rejection rate worsened in 2024. In 2023, 17,015 out of 41,317 applications (42.8%) were rejected. Sweden rejected the most visa applications from Bangladeshis, while Austria topped the list for Pakistanis, and France for Comoros citizens.
The Schengen Area comprises 29 European countries, allowing visa-free travel among member states.
