Tokyo, May 29, 2025: Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus emphasized that there are significant opportunities for cooperation between Bangladesh and Japan across various sectors.
He expressed his anticipation for a meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba to further strengthen and expand the existing collaboration between the two countries. These remarks were made during a courtesy meeting with Nikkei Inc.’s President and CEO Suyoshi Hasebe at the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo on Thursday.
The meeting occurred on the eve of the Nikkei Forum ‘Future of Asia’ conference. On the third and final day of his Japan visit, Professor Yunus is scheduled to meet with the Japanese Prime Minister on Friday. He stated, “There are numerous opportunities for cooperation between Japan and Bangladesh, and I am keen to work on these.”
Professor Yunus shared that he has been a regular visitor to Japan and has had the opportunity to forge many friendships through the Nikkei Forum, for which he expressed his gratitude. Hasebe thanked the Chief Adviser for attending the event despite his busy schedule, referencing a Japanese proverb: “One must have the courage to pick nuts from the fire.” He expressed appreciation for Professor Yunus’ participation.
Following the meeting, Professor Yunus delivered a speech at the Nikkei Forum ‘Future of Asia.’
