Bangladesh Suffers T20 Series Defeat Against Pakistan

Lahore, May 31, 2025: Still reeling from their series loss against the United Arab Emirates, the Bangladesh cricket team faced yet another disappointment, losing the T20 series against Pakistan. In the second T20 match held on Friday (May 30) in Lahore, Liton Das-led Bangladesh suffered a 57-run defeat, conceding the series to Pakistan after losing both matches.

Winning the toss and opting to bat first, Pakistan posted a formidable total of 201 for 6 in their 20 overs. Sahibzada Farhan led the charge with a scintillating 74 runs at a strike rate exceeding 180. Contributions from Hasan Nawaz (51), Mohammad Haris (41), and Salman Agha (19) bolstered Pakistan’s score. For Bangladesh, Hasan Mahmud and Tanzim Hasan Sakib claimed two wickets each.
Chasing 202, Bangladesh started strongly but faltered in the middle overs due to a batting collapse. Tanzid Hasan Tamim scored a quick 33 off 19 balls, but the likes of Liton Das, Parvez Emon, and Zaker Ali disappointed with the bat. Late efforts from Mehidy Hasan Miraz (23) and Tanzim Hasan Sakib, who scored a fighting 50 off 31 balls, added some respectability to the total, but Bangladesh were bowled out for 144. Pakistan’s Abrar Ahmed was the standout bowler, picking up three wickets.
The defeat, driven by batting frailties, has highlighted ongoing concerns in Bangladesh’s batting lineup, leaving the team with much to reflect on as they exit the series empty-handed.
