Dhaka, May 10, 2025 : Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury announced that an investigation is underway to determine how former President Abdul Hamid left the country.
A committee has been tasked with submitting a report within three days, after which action will be taken against those involved.
Speaking during an inspection of immigration operations at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Saturday (May 10), the adviser stated that it is unclear whether the Special Branch (SB) of the police had sent any travel restrictions regarding Abdul Hamid to the ministry. He assured that the matter would be thoroughly investigated.
Additionally, he revealed that Interpol is working to bring back former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Commenting on the ongoing movement to ban the Awami League, the adviser noted that protests are causing public inconvenience. He suggested that demonstrations should be held in a manner that minimizes disruption to the public.
