Elon Musk Allegedly Used Drugs Regularly While Serving as Trump Advisor, Claims New York Times

International Desk, 31 May, 2025 : A New York Times investigative report has alleged that Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, regularly used drugs while serving as a close advisor to U.S. President Donald Trump. The report claims that Musk consumed substances such as ketamine, ecstasy, and psychedelic mushrooms during this period.

According to the New York Times, Musk used ketamine almost daily and carried a box containing around 20 types of drugs at all times. By the spring of 2023, his drug use reportedly escalated to a physically harmful level, leading to bladder issues.
The report further states that Musk’s drug use intensified during his involvement in Trump’s election campaign, where he donated $275 million, and while he was tasked with leading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). During this time, he participated in critical government meetings and played a role in budget-related decisions. The White House has declined to comment on whether Musk was under the influence of drugs during these responsibilities.
The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) notes that ecstasy is a Schedule I prohibited drug with no recognized medical use and is completely banned for federal employees. However, as Musk was designated a “special government employee,” the regulations were applied more leniently in his case.
Following the publication of the report on May 31, 2025, widespread discussions have erupted across the United States. The public is questioning how one of the world’s wealthiest and most influential entrepreneurs could engage in regular drug use while holding significant governmental responsibilities.
