Dhaka, May 5, 2025 : A massive fire broke out on the ground floor of the Capital Siraj Center, a shopping mall in Shantinagar, Dhaka, on Monday evening. The Fire Service and Civil Defence deployed a total of nine units to combat the blaze after receiving reports of the incident.
According to Khaleda Yasmin, the duty officer at the Fire Service Control Room, the fire was reported at 6:45 PM. "We received information about the fire on the ground floor of the Capital Siraj Center. Initially, three units were dispatched to the scene, followed by six additional units. A total of nine units are currently working to control the fire," she confirmed.
The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are yet to be determined. Khaleda Yasmin also reported that several people are trapped inside the building due to the fire. Rescue operations are underway, and efforts to extinguish the fire are ongoing.
