Five Arrested in Dhaka for Kidnapping Teenage Girls, Extorting Money with Nude Videos

 

Dhaka, May 30, 2025: The Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s (DMP) Uttara West Police Station has arrested five members of a professional kidnapping gang involved in abducting teenage girls, filming explicit videos and photos, and extorting large sums of money by threatening to share the content on social media. The arrests were made in Uttara, Dhaka, following the rescue of an abducted teenage girl.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Md. Masum Parvez (38), Md. Solaiman Hossain (38), Shafiqul Islam Saurav (27), Mst. Maya (25), and Mst. Ruli Khanam (19). According to a press release issued by Muhammad Talebur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner of DMP’s Media and Public Relations Division, the arrests were made on Wednesday, May 28, at around 3:30 PM from a residence at House No. 37, Road 10/B, Sector 11, Uttara West.
Police recovered Tk 1.41 crore in extortion money, 60 yaba tablets, two CCTV cameras, and three mobile phones from the suspects’ possession. The gang lured teenage girls with fake job offers, abducted them, and held them captive while recording compromising videos and photos to demand ransom.
The case came to light after a 12th-grade student from Monipur School and College went missing on May 26 after leaving her home in Rupnagar residential area. On May 28, an unknown caller demanded Tk 50,000 from the victim’s mother for her release. Following the complaint, police used technology to trace the gang, rescuing the victim and arresting the five suspects on May 29. Several accomplices managed to flee during the operation.
Three separate cases have been filed against the arrested individuals and their absconding accomplices under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act, the Narcotics Control Act, and the Pornography Control Act. The suspects have been sent to court for further legal proceedings.
