Dhaka, 24 May 2025 : A nursery worker named Jewel (40), son of Md. Jalil Uddin Bepari from Buniyapara, Ward No. 6, Tejgaon, was critically injured in a cocktail bomb explosion at a tree fair near Jatrabari Park in Dhaka. The incident occurred around midnight on Friday, May 23, 2025.
According to Md. Shakil, a relative who brought Jewel to the hospital, Jewel was working at a nursery stall in the tree fair when unidentified miscreants detonated a cocktail bomb. The explosion caused severe injuries to Jewel’s hands, legs, and body. Several others were reportedly injured in the incident, though their whereabouts remain unclear. Jewel was immediately rushed to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment in Ward No. 4.
Inspector Md. Faruk, in-charge of the Dhaka Medical College Hospital police camp, confirmed that Jewel was brought to the hospital in a bloodied and injured condition from Jatrabari. Based on information from his family, the injuries were caused by a cocktail bomb explosion at the tree fair. The incident has been reported to the relevant police station for further investigation.
