Dhaka, May 19, 2025: Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has stated that actress Nusirat Faria was arrested due to a case filed against her. However, he mentioned that he is unaware of the specific details of the case.
Speaking at a press briefing after a meeting on law and order during Eid at the Secretariat on Monday, he said, “I don’t know what Nusirat Faria has done. We are ensuring no one faces punishment without cause. We will provide details after the investigation is complete.” He further remarked, “If there’s a case against Nusirat Faria, what can we do? If we don’t arrest the accused, people will say we let them go.”
The meeting discussed various measures to maintain law and order during Eid. The Home Affairs Adviser noted that cattle markets will not be allowed along highways. Vehicles transporting cattle must clearly display the name of the market. Bulkhead movement will be suspended five days before and three days after Eid, with a complete ban on their operation at night. Strict action will be taken against public transport carrying excess passengers.
Addressing a question about Barrister Andalib Partha’s wife traveling abroad, he clarified that there is no case against her.
