Officers and Employees Protest at Secretariat Against Government Service Ordinance 2025

Dhaka, May 25, 2025 : Officers and employees of the Bangladesh Secretariat staged a protest demanding the repeal of the Government Service Ordinance 2025. On Sunday (May 25), they organized a sit-in and demonstration in front of the Home Ministry gate.

Md. Badiul Kabir, president of the Bangladesh Secretariat Officers and Employees Council, told Samakal that the Government Service Act, 2018, already includes all conduct rules and other provisions. He described the new ordinance’s inclusion of repressive clauses as a “black law” and demanded its immediate withdrawal.
The protest was led by Md. Badiul Kabir, the council’s president, and Md. Nurul Islam, co-chairman. Officers and employees gathered in front of the Home Ministry gate to voice their demands.
