Weekly Holidays Canceled:-Schools and Offices to Operate on May 17 and 24

Dhaka, May 7, 2025: The Government of Bangladesh has declared public holidays on June 11 and 12, 2025, for Eid-ul-Azha via an executive order. To offset these holidays and ensure operational continuity, the weekly holidays on May 17 and 24, 2025 (Saturdays), have been canceled. All educational institutions, along with government, semi-government, autonomous, semi-autonomous, and private offices, will remain open on these days.

The directive was issued on May 7, 2025, by the Secondary and Higher Education Division of the Ministry of Education, referencing a same-day notification from the Ministry of Public Administration. Signed by Senior Assistant Secretary Jaber Md. Sowahin, the order mandates that academic and administrative activities continue as usual.
The notification has been sent to the University Grants Commission, Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education, NCTB, Education Engineering Department, education boards, and other relevant bodies, with instructions to ensure academic operations on these Saturdays.
