International Desk | May 15, 2025 : Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry has stated that its conventional military capabilities are sufficient to counter India, dismissing the need for what it calls India’s “self-imposed nuclear blackmail.” The statement was issued from Islamabad on Thursday (May 15).
In the statement, Pakistan strongly condemned recent remarks by Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who had suggested that Pakistan’s nuclear arsenal should be placed under the supervision of the United Nations’ nuclear agency, the IAEA.
Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry described Singh’s comments as a reflection of India’s insecurity and frustration. It further noted that the remarks reveal Singh’s ignorance about the mandate and responsibilities of a specialized UN agency like the IAEA.
The statement also called on the international community, including the IAEA, to focus on incidents of repeated theft and illicit trafficking of nuclear and radioactive materials in India. Pakistan emphasized that its military capabilities are robust enough to address any threat and reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining regional peace and stability.
