Dhaka, May 17, 2025 : Chief Adviser of the interim government, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, emphasized the need for a distinct law to regulate microcredit banks, proposing the establishment of a new banking framework dedicated to microcredit. He stated that the Microcredit Regulatory Authority (MRA) could oversee this initiative.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Microcredit Regulatory Authority (MRA) building in Dhaka’s Agargaon area on Saturday morning, Dr. Yunus highlighted the evolution of microcredit in Bangladesh. “We have reached a stage with microcredit where we need to think anew,” he remarked, underscoring the importance of innovative approaches to strengthen the sector.
