Port workers in Genoa, Italy, have intercepted a Saudi ship carrying weapons from the United States intended for Israel. On Friday, August 8, the Saudi vessel named *Bahri Yanbu* arrived at the Genoa port.
The ship was scheduled to load additional weapons in Genoa, which were to be transported to Abu Dhabi. However, port workers discovered that the vessel was already carrying arms and ammunition destined for Israel.
Approximately 40 port workers forcibly boarded the ship and confirmed the presence of weapons meant for Israel. The ship had arrived in Genoa from Maryland, USA.
Jose Nivoi, a representative of the Autonomous Collective of Port Workers and Union in Genoa, stated, “We do not work for war.” He noted that following the discovery of the arms smuggling, the Genoa Port Authority pledged to establish a permanent monitoring team to prevent such activities.
In 2019, Genoa port workers similarly blocked another arms-carrying ship. Since October 7, 2023, Israel has been carrying out brutal massacres in Gaza. To prevent Israel from receiving more weapons to continue its atrocities, port workers across various European countries have become vigilant.
On June 4, port workers in Fos-Marseille, France, refused to load arms components destined for Israel, forcing the ship to leave without the cargo.
