Gazipur, May 4, 2025: Gazipur Metropolitan Police have arrested two individuals in connection with an attack on the vehicle of Hasnat Abdullah, the chief organizer of the National Citizen Party (NCP) for the southern region, on Sunday evening (May 4).
The incident occurred in the Chandna Chowrasta area of Gazipur, where assailants on motorcycles attacked Hasnat Abdullah’s car, damaging its windows.
According to Gazipur Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner (DC) Robiul Hasan, the arrests were made following a swift police operation. The detained individuals are identified as Md. Nizam Uddin, a leader of the Jubo League from Ward No. 13 of Gazipur city, and Masum Ahsed Dipu, president of the Kashimpur Thana Sheikh Russel Shishu Kishor Parishad.
DC Robiul Hasan stated that senior police officials arrived at the scene immediately after the incident and ordered a crackdown. “Based on the driver’s statement, the attackers approached from behind on motorcycles and carried out the assault, shattering the car’s glass,” he said. Police operations are ongoing to identify and apprehend other suspects involved in the attack.
The incident has sparked protests by the NCP, with demonstrations held in Gazipur and Cumilla condemning the attack. Additionally, the student organization Shibir has issued a statement denouncing the assault.
