Dhaka, May 28, 2025: Mirza Abbas, a member of the BNP Standing Committee, has expressed strong dissatisfaction with the interim government, stating it has failed to meet the expectations of the general public. "This government was considered a government of trust, but we have received nothing from it. Most of its advisers are not even citizens of this country," he said.
He made these remarks on Wednesday afternoon during the ‘Youth Rally’ held in front of the BNP central office in Naya Paltan, Dhaka. The event, organized by BNP’s affiliate organizations—Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal, Swechchhasebak Dal, and Chhatra Dal—under the theme ‘Establishing Political Rights of the Youth,’ was attended virtually by BNP Acting Chairman Tariq Rahman, who delivered the keynote address from London.
Mirza Abbas further criticized the interim government, saying, “They claim they will hold elections after reforms, but they haven’t managed any reforms in nine months, and they won’t in nine years either.” Questioning the government’s decisions, he added, “What are they doing with Saint Martin’s Island, the corridor, and Starlink? Don’t think the people of this country are fools—we understand everything.”
He accused the government of instilling fear among patriotic citizens and stated, “This government is rotten from head to toe. Some people are deliberately engaging in extortion, and they must be resisted.”
The rally was presided over by Jubo Dal President Monayem Munna. Conducted by Swechchhasebak Dal General Secretary Rajib Ahsan and Chhatra Dal General Secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir, the event featured speeches by BNP Standing Committee members Dr. Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Salahuddin Ahmed, and others.
