Jessore, May 4, 2025: A young man named Shubho Ghosh (32) was arrested by police in Jessore’s Sharsha upazila with 10 gold bars on Sunday, May 4, 2025, around 12:30 PM. The arrest took place in front of Bagachra Union Parishad.
Shubho Ghosh, son of Sunil Ghosh, hails from Janmatop village in Shingail upazila, Manikganj district. Acting on a tip-off, Sub-Inspector Alamgir Hossain of Sharsha Police Station conducted a raid and apprehended the suspect. A search revealed 10 gold bars, weighing 1,192.69 grams and valued at approximately BDT 12 million, concealed in the right pocket of his trousers.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (Navaron Circle) Nishat Al Nahian confirmed that Bagachra was the delivery point for the gold. The police are investigating to identify others involved in the gold smuggling operation. A case will be filed in connection with the incident.
