16 Commercial Entities to Cease Operations at Three Airports Tonight

The operations of 16 commercial entities at three international airports in Bangladesh, including Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, will cease from midnight tonight (Monday). The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) has decided not to renew the leases of these entities starting from the 2025-26 fiscal year.

A CAAB official, speaking on condition of anonymity, stated that the decision aims to enhance passenger service quality, ensure security, and increase transparency. The other two airports affected are Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram and Saidpur Airport in Nilphamari.

The official added that entities with expiring leases will not be granted renewals, and future operations at these locations will be conducted under a new policy framework.

Entities Affected at Shahjalal Airport
The commercial entities ceasing operations at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport include: Aeros Trading, Messers Sajal Enterprise, Mahbuba Traders, Nahar Construction, Aviation Transport Limited, A Five Roadway Limited, World Trust Tourist Car Services Company, Shirin Enterprise, Haoladar & Sons, Athai Enterprise, Wolf Corporation, Aerial Creative Space, Dhansiri Communication, and Department S Consulting.

**Chattogram and Saidpur Airports**
At Chattogram’s Shah Amanat International Airport, Falcon Agency, located in the departure area on the second floor of the passenger terminal, will shut down. Similarly, Falcon Airport Service Team, operating in the domestic departure area of Saidpur Airport in Nilphamari, will also cease operations tonight.

**CAAB’s Actions**
On June 29, CAAB sent letters via registered mail to all affected leaseholders, informing them of the decision. Additionally, a formal notice was issued on June 30, stating that these entities must vacate the premises immediately upon the expiry of their lease terms, and no applications for lease renewals will be considered.
**Rationale and Objectives** According to CAAB, this move is part of an effort to modernize airport management, enhance accountability, and improve passenger services. A source familiar with the matter revealed that several of these entities, which had been operating under long-term leases, faced allegations of poor passenger service and various irregularities. In response, CAAB has taken this stringent measure. **Future Plans**
CAAB stated that commercial operations at these sensitive airport locations will be managed under a new policy framework to ensure regulated and professional services. The implementation of these changes will begin tonight, marking a significant step toward improving airport operations in Bangladesh.
