Jamalpur, June 26, 2025: Seventeen students from Prashanti Ideal School and College in Daripara, Jamalpur municipality, were unable to participate in the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations due to the non-issuance of admit cards. On Thursday (June 26) morning, the affected students gathered in front of the college to protest their inability to sit for the exams.
The students alleged that the college authorities collected fees for admit cards and registration cards but failed to provide them. Among the affected students, 10 are from the Science stream, 4 from the Humanities stream, and 3 from the Business Studies stream.
On Wednesday night, after waiting until 2 a.m. for their admit cards, the students and their guardians created a commotion at the principal’s office. In response, the college principal, Rezaul Islam Selim, along with other staff, removed the college’s signboard, locked the gates, and fled the premises. The principal’s mobile phone has since been found switched off.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT), Afsana Taslim, stated that legal action would be taken against the institution if a written complaint with evidence is submitted. This year, a total of 26,575 students are participating in the HSC exams across 52 centers in the district.
