Dhaka, June 2, 2025 : Indonesia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Aramantha Christian Nasir has expressed his country’s intent to explore the possibility of introducing on-arrival visas for Bangladeshi citizens as soon as possible. He made the statement in response to a question from journalists following a meeting with Bangladesh’s Foreign Affairs Adviser Md. Touhid Hossain in Dhaka on Monday (June 2).
Addressing queries about on-arrival visas for Bangladeshis, the deputy minister said the issue was discussed during the meeting. He noted that Indonesia has initiated a review of its visa processes post-COVID, and upon his return, he will raise the matter with relevant authorities to facilitate easier visa access for Bangladeshis.
The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral ties, with discussions centered on trade, investment, and renewable energy. Nasir emphasized Indonesia’s keen interest in deepening relations with Bangladesh, stating, “We aim to hold a Foreign Office Consultation soon to discuss trade and investment matters in greater detail.”
On the Rohingya crisis, the deputy minister acknowledged it as a regional challenge, not just Bangladesh’s burden. He reaffirmed Indonesia’s support for the safe repatriation of Rohingyas to Myanmar and stressed the need for international cooperation to address the issue.
