Narsingdi, June 2, 2025: A ride-share motorcycle driver, Shah Paran (30), has been arrested in Narsingdi on charges of raping a female passenger and robbing her. The incident occurred on May 28, 2025, when the victim, a mother of one, boarded Paran's motorcycle from Mirpur-12 in Dhaka to travel to Shyamoli.
According to the case details, Paran took the woman to a secluded area near the Panchdona-Tongi regional highway in Ghorashal, Palash Upazila, Narsingdi, around 9:15 PM. There, he allegedly raped her, stole cash from her possession, and extorted money from her relatives via bKash by threatening to kill her.
Following a distress call to 999, Palash Thana police rescued the victim and sent her to a hospital. On May 29, the victim filed a case at Palash Thana, naming Shah Paran as the primary accused and two unidentified individuals as accomplices.
After a coordinated operation by Palash Thana police and the Detective Branch (DB), Paran was arrested in Keraniganj, Dhaka, late on May 31. On June 1, he was presented before Senior Judicial Magistrate Meshkat Islam’s court, where he confessed to the crime under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Mohammad Anwar Hossain confirmed the details, stating that Paran, son of Abdul Ali from Taranagar Bottoli (South Para) in Keraniganj, Dhaka, is now in custody, and investigations are ongoing to apprehend any accomplices.
