Dhaka, June 14, 2025: Home Affairs Adviser Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has stated that while field-level police will be equipped with rifles, they will not possess heavy lethal weapons. He added that specialized units like the Armed Police Battalion (APBN) will be provided with heavy arms.
Speaking to journalists on Saturday morning after inspecting the APBN headquarters in the capital at 11:00 AM, before heading to the RAB-1 office, the adviser shared these remarks. He noted that the government is working on the overall development of law enforcement agencies, including the APBN and thana police.
The Home Affairs Adviser claimed that the law and order situation has significantly improved over the past 11 months under the interim government. He further stated that, barring a few minor incidents, the recent Eid celebrations were observed peacefully across the country.
