Sports Desk : Indian cricket icons Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli recently announced their retirement from Test cricket during the IPL, though they have yet to formally bid farewell on the field. Cricket Australia (CA) is now planning a unique tribute to honor these two legends.
CA is in the early stages of organizing a formal farewell event for the Indian stars, with no final decisions confirmed yet. The event is expected to take place during India’s tour of Australia later this year, which includes three ODIs and five T20Is. This tour is likely to be Rohit and Kohli’s final series on Australian soil.
Cricket Australia’s CEO, Todd Greenberg, said, “Thinking about the quality of players from India, this might be our last chance to see Virat Kohli or Rohit Sharma play in our country. We want to celebrate their extraordinary international contributions with a memorable farewell.”
He added, “For the first time in nearly two decades, every Australian capital city and region will host international matches. We are working on tailored marketing plans for each city to make this occasion special.”
