June 11, 2025 : Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus has stated that he has no interest in being part of the government formed after the upcoming election. He emphasized that his primary responsibility is to ensure a successful and peaceful transition of power through a fair and transparent election.
Speaking at a question-and-answer session following his address at the Royal Institute of International Affairs at Chatham House in London on Wednesday (June 11, 2025), Dr. Yunus clarified his stance. Responding to a journalist’s query about whether he would be interested in joining a democratically elected government, he said their role is to complete the ongoing transition process effectively and ensure public satisfaction when power is handed over to the elected government.
“We want to ensure that the election is conducted properly. This is a critical matter for us,” he stated. He further noted, “After 17 years, we are going to hold a genuine election, which will be the most beautiful election in our history.”
Highlighting the formation of reform commissions to build a new Bangladesh, Dr. Yunus said, “We have established commissions for every institution. We are looking forward to their recommendations. Our task is to build consensus among all parties.” He also mentioned that they are awaiting the July Charter, which will be presented to the nation as the charter for July.
